Mechanical Engineer

Located in Burnaby, BC, AGEIAS is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to support process scale up efforts through the design and operation of test stands and pilot plants.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with process engineers in the development and design of process R&D test stands and pilot plants through mechanical design activities.
  • Conduct sizing calculations for process equipment such as vessels, pumps, heat exchangers, etc.
  • Work with vendors to determine equipment and component solutions to meet design objectives.
  • Prepare equipment specification and design basis documents.
  • Work with vendors to identify, source, procure, and expedite process equipment and components for test stands and pilot plants.  
  • Generate 3D solid models and 2D sketches, diagrams, schematics, and “for construction” drawings to facilitate assembly of test stands and pilot plants.
  • Support and manage test stand and pilot plant builds and operating campaigns.
  • Provide troubleshooting and problem-solving support to R&D operations teams.

Qualifications:

  • Legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident)
  • Graduate of an accredited Mechanical Engineering Degree Program.
  • Experimental based post graduate studies would be a strong asset.
  • Eligible to register as a P.Eng. with EGBC.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • 5 – 8 years of relevant mechanical engineering experience, specifically in process design. Experience in an R&D environment would be an asset.
  • Ability to read and interpret PFDs, P&IDs and other process engineering specifications.
  • Proficient with 3D modeling and 2D CAD software.
  • Comfortable with hands on work in support of projects with strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Adaptable to changing priorities and requirements with the ability to balance multiple projects.
  • Solution oriented with a demonstrated aptitude for creative “outside the box” problem solving and troubleshooting.

 Salary: $66,000 - $96,000 based on experience and qualifications.

Junior Process Engineer

Located in Burnaby, BC, AGEIAS is looking for a Junior Process Engineer to support process scale up efforts through the design and operation of test stands and pilot plants.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Under the supervision of more senior engineers, develop block flow diagrams, PFDs, P&IDs, and associated process design documents for test stands and pilot plants.
  • Prepare process engineering calculations, including mass and energy balances and equipment sizing calculations.
  • Support the development of equipment specifications and design basis documents.
  • Participate in test stand and pilot plant builds and operations.
  • Troubleshoot and problem solve R&D design and testing challenges.

Qualifications:

  • Legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident)
  • Graduate of an accredited Chemical Engineering Degree Program.
  • Experimental based post graduate studies would be a strong asset.
  • Eligible to register with EGBC as an EIT.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • 0 – 3 years relevant experience in process design and/or process R&D.
  • Experience in research-based environment would be a strong asset.
  • Comfortability with hands on work in support of projects.
  • Aptitude to work on multiple projects across different chemical processes.
  • Solution oriented person with a demonstrated aptitude for creative “outside the box” problem solving and troubleshooting.

 Salary: $60,000 - $78,000 based on experience and qualifications.

Intermediate Process Engineer

Located in Burnaby, BC, AGEIAS is looking for a Junior Process Engineer to support process scale up efforts through the design and operation of test stands and pilot plants.  

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conceptualization of experimental plans and test stands to meet process development objectives.
  • Development of block flow diagrams, PFDs, P&IDs, and associated process design documents.
  • Preparation of process engineering calculations, including mass and energy balances and equipment sizing calculations.
  • Work with vendors to determine equipment and component solutions to meet design objectives.
  • Development of equipment specifications and design basis documents.
  • Support and manage test stand and pilot plant builds, as well as operating campaigns.
  • Troubleshooting, problem solving, and support for R&D operations teams.

Qualifications:

  • Legally able to work in Canada on a permanent basis (Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident)
  • Graduate of an accredited Chemical Engineering Degree Program.
  • Experimental based post graduate studies would be a strong asset.

 Salary: $66,000 - $96,000 based on experience and qualifications.

Engineering Co-op

Competencies Required:

  • Chemical or mechanical engineering student who has completed at least 2 years of an engineering program
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills, with ability to adapt to change
  • High level of initiative and enthusiastic to learn more about engineering R&D work
  • Good time management, with the ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary team
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills
  • Able to lift at least 25lb
  • Chemical laboratory experience an asset
  • Minor construction / hands-on experience an asset

Salary: $3,000 - $4,000 per month
