In-house Feedstock Processing

LOCATION: Canada

High Volume Dean Stark Soxhlet Extraction

Client Objective

To assess new feedstock supplies, AGEIAS’ client required periodic extraction-based analysis capacity for larger kilogram scale sample streams. The streams posed several challenges due to higher solids and flammable solvents content. Processing these potential feedstock sample streams was a major bottleneck hindering downstream processing. Due to the intermittent frequency of sample analysis, the client wanted to minimize capital exposure by not investing in dedicated extraction equipment.

The AGEIAS Approach

AGEIAS developed and set up an in-house Dean-Stark Soxhlet extraction train capable of processing higher volumes when needed. The equipment was installed in an interlocked ventilated enclosure to mitigate processing hazards.

Customer Value

The client now has a cost effective, quick turnaround solution to conduct analysis when needed to significantly debottleneck their process.

Capabilities Demonstrated

  • Pilot scale extraction
  • Inhouse processing
  • Method development and optimization
  • Process hazard mitigation
  • Equipment adaption
  • Rapid deployment
